| The instrument enables the researcher to obtain valuable information about the physical properties of catalysts, catalyst support, and a variety of other materials. Researchers can investigate active metal surface area, surface acidity, distribution and strength of active sites, BET surface area, and more. The AutoChem II performs pulse chemisorption, temperature-programmed reduction (TPR), desorption (TPD), oxidation (TPO), and reaction analyses. Multiple experiments can be run using the same sample.

| Dilatometry is the method of choice for highly precise measurement of dimension changes to solids at a programmed temperature change and with negligible sample strain. The dilatometer in the FC lab is equipped with a dual pushrods system that enables doing measurements in a dual or a differential mode. The maximum sample temperature is 1150°C, the range of heating rates is 0.001-50 K/min. Measurements could be done in vaccuum, nitrogen or argon atmospheres. Samples of diameters 4,6 and 8 mm and lengths up to 52 mm could be tested. Several reference samples made of Aluminium Oxide are avalable.
